“The therapist under the supervision of Dr. Ripplinger was able to help me process some of the things I needed help with.”
Working with Robin…
New York has a way of making anything feel possible, and at the same time, quietly wearing people down. You might be the one everyone leans on, patient and understanding with others, yet strangely unforgiving toward yourself. Part of you loves this city’s openness and momentum; another part quietly misses a simpler, more grounded pace of life you once knew.
My practice is especially welcoming to young adults, creatives, international students, immigrants, Asian and Asian American clients, queer individuals, and anyone navigating life between cultures or identities. Many of my clients are high-achieving, deeply empathic people who have become so skilled at understanding everyone else that they’ve lost touch with themselves.
Together, we’ll explore anxiety, depression, perfectionism, burnout, relationship challenges, and the emotional exhaustion of constantly trying to get everything right. Therapy is also a space to examine the stories you’ve inherited about success, family, identity, and self-worth, deciding which ones still serve you and which are ready to be rewritten.
My approach is strength-based, relational, and integrative, drawing from psychodynamic, Gestalt, narrative, and feminist therapies. Sometimes we’ll slow down and stay with an emotion that’s asking to be understood. Other times, we’ll step back and look at the larger story you’ve been living inside.
As a queer woman of color who has lived across cultures, I understand the complexity of balancing multiple identities and finding a place where you feel fully seen. I strive to create a warm, affirming space where every part of your experience is welcome.
Education and Experience…
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology in Beijing, China, before completing my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at New York University. My clinical work has included children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families from diverse cultural backgrounds, with a particular focus on LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent time playing in orchestras, working as a barista, and freelancing as a digital creator—each role taught me something unique about people and the many ways we move through the world. I carry these experiences with me into every session, and I look forward to welcoming yours into the room, as well.
