Mickey Field M.SEd (he/him)
MHC-LP Sentient Therapist
“Mickey was really kind and easy to talk to. He helped me understand my anxiety and feel better about who I am. I always feel safe and listened to in our sessions.”
Working together…
We’ll work through the mix of questions, emotions, and outside pressures that come with navigating identity, relationships, and life transitions. You may be wondering how to feel more grounded in yourself, how to cope with the expectations of others, or how to find clarity in moments of uncertainty. Together, we’ll create space for self-acceptance, healing, and growth.
As a native New Yorker, I take a strengths-based, person-centered approach to support college students, professionals, and individuals from diverse backgrounds who are working through anxiety, depression, identity exploration, and grief. With compassion and curiosity, we’ll explore the cultural and social systems you’re part of, your core beliefs, and how these shape your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By learning to trust your own resilience and innate ability to thrive, you can embrace a deeper sense of self.
I also specialize in relationship therapy for all kinds of couples navigating challenges such as infidelity, intimacy issues, open relationships, polyamory, or major life changes. I believe all couples deserve thoughtful, affirming care within a non-judgmental, practical approach that honors the complexity of their dynamics without pathologizing their choices.
My work is rooted in psychodynamic, relational, and anti-oppressive therapy. I see the therapeutic relationship as a central part of the process, and I believe therapy itself can be a powerful act of self-care and personal empowerment.
Education and Experience…
I earned my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Hunter College, and completed my undergraduate studies at Wheaton College in Massachusetts. My academic foundation continues to inform my clinical work, particularly my interest in identity development, systems thinking, and culturally responsive care.
Prior to joining Sentient, I conducted evidence-based individual and couples psychotherapy with clients ranging in age from 5 to 55 at Jamron Counseling. My specialized areas include neurodivergence, family systems, and grief and loss, integrating psychodynamic and relational frameworks with behavioral tools and mindfulness.
During and after Covid, I was an elementary school associate teacher and a paraprofessional for children with autism and learning differences. These experiences deepened my understanding of child development, emotional regulation, and the importance of creating affirming environments for young people to thrive. They continue to shape the way I build trust, attune to emotional needs, and engage clients of all ages with curiosity and care.
