MHC-LP Sentient Psychotherapist

“The therapist under the supervision of Dr. Ripplinger was able to help me process some of the things I needed help with.”

Anooshka Banerjee 900x1200 Working with Anooshka…

You feel caught between different worlds. Your family, culture, faith, or community expect one version of you, while another part of you longs to live more authentically. You spend so much time trying to meet everyone else’s expectations that you’ve lost touch with your own voice. Anxiety, self-doubt, and emotional overwhelm make it difficult to trust yourself or move confidently toward the life you want.

My practice is especially welcoming to young adults, South and East Asian Americans, immigrants, children of immigrants, people of color, neurodivergent individuals, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Many of my clients are navigating multiple cultural identities, family expectations, questions of faith, or the challenge of building a life that feels authentic while honoring where they come from.

I have a particular passion for supporting people exploring spirituality, religious trauma, and the intersection of faith, culture, and identity. Rather than asking you to choose between different parts of yourself, we’ll work toward integrating them in a way that feels honest, meaningful, and true to who you are.

My approach is collaborative, relational, and grounded in curiosity. Drawing from existential, systems, narrative, and trauma-informed perspectives, we’ll explore the patterns, relationships, and beliefs that have shaped your life while developing a deeper understanding of yourself.

As a therapist providing services in English, Bengali, and Hindi, and having lived and trained across cultures, I bring both personal and professional insight into the complexities of identity, belonging, and navigating life between different worlds.

Education and Experience…

My clinical journey began in India, where I earned degrees in Applied Psychology and Counseling Psychology while working with children, adolescents, adults, and families.

After moving to New York, I continued my training at The City College of New York, earning a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling.

My clinical work has included supporting adolescents with complex trauma, emotional dysregulation, and behavioral challenges, as well as adults navigating anxiety, grief, relationship concerns, spirituality, existential questions, and identity development.

Across every setting, I’ve remained committed to creating an affirming, culturally responsive space where clients feel deeply understood. I believe meaningful therapy begins with genuine human connection and grows through curiosity, collaboration, and the courage to explore every part of who you are.
